WHO WE ARE
We are Derrick and Adreain, a family-owned and family-operated non-emergency medical transportation company servicing areas throughout Alabama. Our commitment is grounded in community service and the simple Golden Rule, “Treat others how you want to be treated.” We strongly believe that kindness is contagious, and our transport service is one way we’ve chosen to spread goodness to others.
Premier Transit strives to be more than a means of transportation. We aspire to build relationships with our clients, their loved ones, and caretakers, ensuring that respect and compassion is standard in all interactions. Going the extra mile for a client brings us joy no distance can measure.
HOW IT STARTED
Like most people, we all know someone with mobility restrictions or illness that limits their ability to drive.
This became personal for Adreain when her mother became sick and Adreain unexpectedly became her caretaker. Not only did Adreain learn how to care for her mother at home, she also observed how others cared for her as well.
Adreain was moved by the compassion and professionalism of her mother’s medical drivers. They were patient and accommodating, and seemed to enjoy what they did. But most importantly, Adreain saw how happy her mother was with the service, often expressing how kind and efficient the transportation providers were.
This experience inspired Adreain and Derrick to launch Premier Transit in 2022 and pay forward the similar acts of kindness her mother received with her transportation providers.
WHY WE DO IT
The luxury of getting into a vehicle and driving is an activity many people take for granted. Most of us do not consider that we may one day be in a situation in which we are unable to drive.
At Premier Transit, we believe that we are providing more than transportation. We are also giving our clients physical access to the outside world, reminding them that they still matter, despite their medical or physical condition. Studies show that older people who are confined to their homes are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety as compared to those of the same age group who have access to leaving home.
A simple ride outdoors can boost one’s mood, promoting a sense of freedom, independence, and engagement, if only for a few minutes or a few miles. When we pick up our clients, it gives them the opportunity to enjoy fresh air and sunlight, along with the ride to their appointment to manage their health. It brings us joy to know that we were contributing to the improvement of their healthcare and happiness.
